LOCATION: In Snohomish County, near the town of Index, in Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest


HISTORIC SIGNIFICANCE: Very little is known about either mine, but the area was very popular for mining gold, silver, copper, and lead.

Driving Directions


  • Turn south on Mt. Index Road
  • Follow the road for .5 miles
  • Veer right into parking lot

Trail Directions


  • Pride of Index Mine
    • Take Lake Serene/Bridal Veil Falls trail
    • Follow trail for about 1.75 miles
    • Go right off-trail on footpath
    • Follow narrow footpath .25 miles to cliff wall
    • Go left, following cliff to entrance of Pride of Index Mine
  • Honeymoon Mine
    • Follow the path back to main trail
    • Take right trail up towards Bridal Veil Falls
    • Follow trail for about .5 miles to boardwalk
    • Turn right off-trail just before stairs to falls
    • Go uphill to small plateau
    • Climb to plateau and waterfall
    • Mine entrance is on left side of waterfall
